Hi. I want to know about the epidural ECoG signals. Should these data be processed before using in analysis. Which preprocessing methods should be used for both smoothing and removing chewing artifact from the dataset?

As shown in our paper (2.3. Decoding paradigm), 1kHz of eECoG signals were band-pass filtered from 0.3 to 500Hz and were re-referenced by common average referencing for data analysis. We did not smooth and remove chewing artifacts from the dataset. We just extracted chewing artifacts to elucidate the cause of the lower prediction accuracy in eECoG-based decoding compared with sECoG-based decoing.

Thank you for your reply. The procedure of band pass filtering should be applied on the available dataset or this procedure already be applied through hardware setting?
